SYNOPSIS

In the Buenos Aires of the new millenium, there are almost no traces left of that European city lost in South America. As if a strong wind would have swept it all away, only remain a few elegant buildings designed by French architects; a certain affinity by some for the arts, those who lost everything they had and a majority of individuals left to their own will, all of them suddenly childish, pretty confused…

Inés is 38 years old; a shy, a bit dull woman, who works as a receptionist at a Hair Recovery Center. Inés has a father with whom she vainly tries to make a connection and a married sister with three beautiful fair-haired kids. She meets an attractive architect and, for the first time in many years, she fosters great hope. But the night of their first date, Inés is tied up and gagged by Juan (21), a young neighbor who has pushed her into a sadomasochistic relationship.

Inés’s Father (78) lived most of his life in golden-age Argentina. Now he’s unable to adjust to a different reality

he does not understand. A reality in which Haydée (50?, 60?), his housekeeper, finds herself completely at home.

Haydée rules the house but above all she rules him in an ambiguous motherly/femme fatale way. She cooks, cleans and wipes; also occasionally steals valuables. Inés’s Father perhaps knows about this habit of Haydée but chooses not to say anything because having a little extra money keeps Haydée happy.

In Torres, a small town some 50 miles away from Buenos Aires, live Beto (19), Tito (18) and Omar (16), three poor boys that usually work doing odd jobs in the town’s houses. They have met Father Luis (60), the town’s priest, who hired them to do

repairs in the church. Father Luis was quite satisfied with their work but, above all, he has grown fond of Omar, the youngest in the group. And now he does not want to lose him. And, as he knows his family’s poverty, he starts to financially help the boy. That, in exchange for certain favors, of course.

Favors that Eloísa (65) is totally unaware of at the time she hires Omar and his friends to fix a leak in her roof. Eloísa is Juan’s grandmother, Inés’s sadomasochist neighbor.

Eloísa has a peaceful life; she lives in a house full of cats and dogs, she tends her orchard, listens to music and has a good time with a local friend. . But her main activity is to provide food to daily feed three hundred poor children.

But the course of events is uncertain. Because it seems that random acts determine the circumstances. Almost nobody appears to be able to define anything. Chance seems to move the strings, perhaps towards a disturbing scenario.
